Chenglin Xie was born on June 10, 1994 in Changsha, Hunan Province, China. He received the BFA degree from China Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2016, and MFA degree from School of Cinematic Arts of University of Southern California in 2019. Currently, Chenglin lives and works in Los Angeles as an animation director and story artist. Chenglin is an award-winning filmmaker and animation artist. His best-known film, Life Smartphone, has won Gold Medal of 44th Student Academy Awards® at International Animation Category, has been in shortlist for Best Animated Shorts of 90th Academy Awards® , and has been nominated for 43rd Annie Award in the category for "Best Student Film."
Chenglin’s work has been screened in many film festivals across the world, including Sundance film festival, Annecy international animation festival, San Francisco international film festival, etc. In 2015, Chenglin was honored to be listed as the top5 director in the “Top30 Short Film Directors In China Of The Year”. In 2018, he was honored as one of the “Top 10 Outstanding Chinese America Youth”
