df at work in the studio

David started in showbiz as a gag writer for Danny Baker. Then someone noticed he could draw and asked if he could write for animation. That first job with Alan Gilbey, was helping develop and write episodes of Rex the Runt for Aardman Animation. They went on to write episodes of Casper the Friendly Ghost for Universal, and then endless TV animation, including Maurice Sendak’s Seven Little Monsters and the Dick King Smith’s Foxbusters starring Whoopi Goldberg and Joanna Lumley, which won a BAFTA for best animated series, and multi award winning, Mr Hell Show for Showtime and The BBC. Nearly a hundred hours of kid’s TV later, David then went solo directing shows, most notably King Arthur’s Disasters starring the late great Rik Mayall, and Groove High for Disney Channel. And most recently David has slipped into Features where he now lives comfortably, with a long list of films he’s adapted, voice directed, script doctored, or co-written (with various new collaborators). Work for Studio Ghibli, Paramount, Alcon, Gkids, SC Films, eOne. Somehow, in his spare time he writes extremely catchy theme songs, such as PJ MASKS.
