Biography

Maysaa Almumin is a Kuwaiti writer, director, and producer, recently named as an Arab Star of tomorrow by Screen International. She was an associate producer on award-winning film AL-SIT by Suzannah Mirghani and she has been the recipient of film production grants from The Doha Film Institute, AFAC, and VCUQarts. Her short films include J’ai le Cafard (2020) and …And I Was Left Behind (2021), which screened at festivals such as Tampere Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and Maskoon, where she has received a special mention. She is currently developing her latest short Tango & Machboos, as well as her first feature Good Grief, the story of a middle-aged Arab woman who feels herself a social misfit.
